There were lane closures on Okemos Road last year when Consumers Energy relocated two gas mains in the vicinity in preparation for the project. The second steel bridge was built in the 1950s to carry two lanes of southbound traffic. The bridge is one of the last remaining concrete bridges of that style in Michigan, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. The northbound concrete camelback bridge on Okemos Road was built in 1924. ![]() The pedestrian truss on the west side of Okemos Road will remain in place, but pedestrian traffic may be restricted during construction, according to the notice. ![]() Northbound Okemos Road traffic will be maintained throughout construction except for a brief period to accommodate construction staging. ![]()
